Like many avid readers, I have a list or pile of "to-be-read" books that seems to be ever growing and never shrinking. There is certainly not enough time to read ALL the books I want to or think I want to, even with my annual Hundred Books Challenge. So in 2023 I have decided to try something new: read primarily books from my TBR list to get it down to a manageable size!
Guidelines (and feel free to adapt them if you'd like to challenge yourself!):
- Have a known list to begin the year. I have consolidated mine into the tool my library uses and have a list of 150 titles here: TBR List.
- Try not to add anything new! But it's okay to read off-list.
- Keep track of what I'm reading on my usual page: Reading List.
- Remove titles from the TBR list as I complete them, OR as I decide that I will be okay never reading/finishing them. If I don't actually have to FINISH all 150, the list might just be conquerable in one year.
Others doing the same thing are using #MountTBR or #VirtualMountTBR (the latter being mine, as I thankfully do not have a physical shelf or pile of waiting books).
In case you were wondering, here's how the list breaks down across some common categories:
