Commentary
Apparently this is #8 of a series I'm not familiar with. The Geronimo Stilton pseudonym is upheld strongly by Scholastic (although they make sure to put a note inside the front cover to make it clear that they respect the Stilton Cheese Makers' Association's trademark). Geronimo, a young mouse, and his buddies follow the Pirate Cats through time and space to prevent their dastardly deeds. The whole thing felt like Saturday morning cartoons -- which is why I think 4th- and 5th-graders will eat it up. This is one of those sugary-cereal types of books that encourage kids to read and enjoy their reading experience -- thankfully, though, it does less damage to their brains than sugar would do to their teeth.
